Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position plans, organizes and manages the Health Information Management Department (medical records, coding and transcription); coordinates these functions with the needs of the hospital, the medical staff, hospital personnel and medical care professionals.  The Manager of Health Information Management ensures effective operation of the department to meet accrediting, legal and hospital standards.  Coordinates activities to ensure completeness, accuracy, confidentiality, safekeeping and availability of health information.  Understands and coordinates activities to ensure timely information flow fro reimbursement programs and improving organization performance.    

Qualifications

  • BA/BS preferred or AS and /or equivalent experience in Health Information Management.
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) 
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years' progressively and successful management experience preferred, with at least five (5) years supervisory experience.   
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required.
  • Math/Statical skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in varied level interactions.
  • Analytical & organization skills required. 
  • Extensive software application skills required.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced work environment. 
  • Knowledge of medical record laws. procedures/accreditation requirements.
