Brookhaven Memorial Hospital is seeking an innovative professional to serve as Senior Director of Revenue Cycle. Responsible for Revenue Cycle Integrity, reporting metrics, maintaining departmental performance targets and benchmarks, and developing policies and procedures. You will Provide direction, leadership and oversight to the Revenue Cycle, Patient Access, Health Information Management and Clinical Documentation Improvement Teams.



  • Interpret and implement complex rules and regulations governing third party payments involving Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, commercial carriers and other payers.
  • Identify and implement professional and specialty billing opportunities to maximize reimbursement while complying with Federal and State regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports and data regarding accounts receivable, cash forecasting, projections of receivables and cash collections, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and oversee operating budgets in accordance with Hospital Financial Planning policies.
  • Collaborate with Chiefs of Service, Associate Hospital Directors, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Information Officer and others to establish new programs to maximize cash collections.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met.
  • Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.


BA/BS in Accounting Required Master’s in Business Administration and/or CPA Preferred


Minimum of 10 years managerial experience as a Director, Assistant Director or Senior Manager in the Revenue Cycle arena for a hospital. Experience in Provider Based Billing preferred, experience with Excel and report writing required.

Demonstrated ability to supervise staff responsible for various aspects of the revenue cycle including registration, charge entry, coding, billing, follow-up, and collections.


Current knowledge of reimbursement regulations and compliance issues of third-party payers.


Knowledge of and experience with systems in the management of accounts receivable.FMS / Invision


Experience with oversight of Revenue Cycle, Patient Access, Health Information Management and Clinical Documentation Improvement Teams.


Experience with the following applications:

    • Cerner Invision/Unity Patient Accounting
    • Cerner Invision Registration
    • Relay Health ePREMIS/Assurance Plus Claims Scrubber
    • Ability to utilize Healthcare Intelligence/Analytics tools; SQL proficiency
    • Cerner Invision Contract Management
    • Craneware Active Chargemaster Toolkit/Bill Analyzer
