Operates telemetry monitoring equipment to identify and record variations in the patient’s cardiac rhythm. Provides data for physicians and telemetry nursing staff to diagnose and treat cardiac arrhythmia. Labels, edits and mounts ECG rhythm strips for review by physician and nursing staff. Maintains telemetry monitoring equipment and refers equipment for repair. Participates in the orientation process of new employees.
High School Diploma or GED.
Ability to read and write in order to obtain and record pertinent information in patient charts and to perform noncomplex arithmetic calculations as normally acquired through completion of high school.
Knowledge of medical terminology and physical sciences.
Basic analytical skills in order to recognize abnormal heart rhythms or artifact in test data and to notify appropriate personnel.
Requires a passing grade of 85% on the Dysrhythmia Proficiency Exam.
