Responsibilities

This position serves as the clinical resource and consultant for the acute integumentary systems such as complex draining wounds, ostomies, fistulas, dermal ulcers and tubes etc. May function as a Community Health Nurse from time to time. Assesses nursing needs and develops and implements plans of care as well as discharge plans, incorporating resources and functions of other health care professionals. Renders professional nursing care by performing both complex and routine treatments as prescribed by physicians or in accordance with care plans and patients' condition. Evaluates patients' and families' education needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching programs. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of patient care. Supervises and directs supporting home health aide personnel. Observes patients' reactions to medication and treatment, documents and maintains records and charts indication patient's response.

 

Qualifications

Applicant must possess a current NYS license as a Registered Professional Nurse. BSN preferred. Current CPR/BLS and current certification in Wound Therapy and Ostomy required. Applicant must possess one to two years Medical/Surgical or Critical Care experience. Must be: proficient in Wound Care and Ostomy; well organized, flexible, and able to exercise independent professional judgment. Must possess the ability to work within a diverse team setting with a collaborative spirit.
