The Medical Assistant for Bellport Primary Care Center is responsible for managing the patient care visit from the time of greeting to the patient exit. They will assist the provider in assuring that this visit is a timely and quality experience. The Medical Assistant is an integral team member of the Patient Centered Medical Home. They will actively participate in patient care as it relates to basic interviewing of the patient and their family, obtaining a concrete chief complaint and related information, basic intake skills as it relates to the physical exam and gathering of patient data. Blood draw, electrocardiogram and spirometry will also be performed by the Medical Assistant.
Demonstrates a strong grasp of the basic medical terminology with abilities to utilize proper application of knowledge
Demonstrates quality in phlebotomy skills and basic laboratory collecting skills utilizing proper techniques and documentation
Demonstrates quality in EKG & spirometry
Ability to obtain a clear and thorough chief complaint and take and document vital signs
Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Competent skills with phlebotomy and basic CLIA lab standards
Competent skills in the assisting of a patient through the entire patient care experience in the office setting
Competent skills in assisting the physician or other allied health care provider in basic office based procedures, ie: EKG and spirometry
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a busy physician office
Excellent medical record keeping skills and knowledge of medical record standards
Knowledge of Infection Control Standards
Knowledge of PCMH and DSRIP standards
Electronic Medical Record navigation and compentency
